Indigenous Leadership and Empowerment for Lasting Change
Led by Dallas Pootlass of the Nuxalk Nation, Indigenous Empowered Careers delivers coaching grounded in lived experience, leadership, and cultural responsibility. Drawing from healthcare, change management, and executive coaching, we support individuals and organizations in building sustainable careers, effective leadership, and personal wellbeing.
Hello, I’m Dallas Pootlass, a proud member of the Nuxalk Nation from British Columbia’s central coast. Since 2016, I’ve been dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities through life coaching.
My journey wasn’t without challenges. Before earning my MBA in change management, I spent 20 years in the healthcare industry, where I learned how closely personal health and professional success are connected.
In October 2020, I founded Indigenous Empowerment Coaching, focusing on strategic intervention for Indigenous organizations.
To date, I’ve supported over 900 individuals across 27 organizations in Canada and Mexico using the same 4-step process I’m eager to share with you. Let’s work together to empower your organization and embark on a path to fulfillment.
The 4 Totems of Deadly Leadership is a culturally grounded leadership framework designed to support Indigenous leaders facing complex responsibilities. Guided by the principles of Bear, Wolf, Eagle, and Turtle, this pathway strengthens self-leadership, relationships, strategic thinking, and wellbeing, helping leaders lead with clarity, resilience, and cultural integrity.
Indigenous Empowered Careers works primarily with organizations seeking to support Indigenous staff, leaders, and program participants in navigating complex professional and personal responsibilities. Our approach helps organizations build leadership capacity, strengthen accountability, and support long-term wellbeing through structured, values-aligned coaching designed for real-world environments.
